Houston, Texas Water Facts: Costs and Typical Residential Use

A recent monthly $2,000 water bill is equivalent to over 200,000 gallons of water used since Houston utility water costs about 1 cent per gallon or $1.00 for 100 gallons.  For a typical residential lot, 200,000 gallons of water (even for typical residential swimming pools, they only use about 20,000 gallons) would be over 2 feet high in  water!  Even if a leak, it would be noticed as water will be flowing into the street!!!  The EPA reports the average American home uses about 320 gallons per day or about 10,000 gallons a month. The large $2,000 bill and huge water use does not make sense if normal water usage and the attached short discussion paper explains why.  Also consult in this blog, “THE COLOUR OF WATER…THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE NOT SO GOOD” (8 short videos) about water.
