TO FINANCIAL ADVISORS…
Us layman sometimes wax lyrical at life and need to express ourselves for some emotional relief or maybe just human’s trait of just speaking out…even if it makes no sense….sorta like how one uses their right to vote.
Market rally’s today…Occidental up 31%…in contrast to a remarkable market down yesterday worse than 2008. And how much of all that was mechanical, triggered by electronic (AI?) automatic algorithms? Something about artificial intelligence that makes sense…and I can’t believe I said that…so I guess in all fairness diversity and inclusion also includes the honest artificial.
Oh well…I figure stock market volatility could easily be correlated with the chaos associated with the President’s Cabinet firing and hiring habits, both occur more frequent than the changing of baby’s nappies – the latter of which I am quite familiar given 2 year old triplet occasional chaperoning. Good to keep in practice I figure. And then there is the fake news citing Trump’s paranoia with journalists infecting him with the virus. I suspect there may well be a 14 day quarantine of all journalists before being allowed in the briefing room. Sorta makes for a slow news day – or week, or two. Not sure in this world where folks not only want things today (see Amazon) but getting to where they want it yesterday…so a 2 week delay with journalism just means more fake news will evolve to fulfill the ravenous want appetites of homo sapiens.
My differential equations text cites chaos as being something not predictable. Sounds like much of life. And there is the quantum mechanics world where there generally is no deterministic events, just probabilistic. Supposedly given enough time, shattered glass could reassemble itself.
I often wonder at the probabilistic risk associated with driving on Houston’s 610 loop…and when one really thinks about it…who are actually operating the mass of steel whizzing by at 80+ or poking along at 30? I figure the stock market risk is less impactful than the potential deadly results of physic’s momentum. Good to have optionality.
So, hope this lightens your day a little as I suspect you have suffered a calloused ear from yesterday’s events.
